# Troubleshooting AI connections

> Fixes for the most common problems when connecting an AI app to Bouncy

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="The app says it could not connect, or no Bouncy page opens">
    The URL must be exactly:

    ```text theme={null}
    https://mcp.bouncy.ai/mcp
    ```

    Check for these common mistakes:

    * Missing `/mcp` at the end, or an extra slash or space after it.
    * Using `bouncy.ai`, `app.bouncy.ai` or `api.bouncy.ai` instead of `mcp.bouncy.ai`.
    * `http://` instead of `https://`.

    In ChatGPT, also make sure **OAuth** is selected as the authentication method.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The approval page asks me to upgrade">
    AI connections are included on the Growth plan and above (Growth, Scaling, Dominance, Agency and Enterprise). Free and Solo accounts see an upgrade option instead of the Approve button.

    [Upgrade your plan](https://bouncy.ai/pricing), then start the connection again from your AI app.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The approval page says my email is not verified">
    Verify your email address first. Look for the verification email from Bouncy (check spam), click the link, then start the connection again from your AI app.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="I can't add Bouncy in Claude: connector limit reached">
    Free Claude plans allow one custom connector. Remove the custom connector you already have under **Customize**, then **Connectors**, or upgrade your Claude plan, then add Bouncy.

    On Claude Team and Enterprise, an organization Owner has to add Bouncy under **Organization settings**, then **Connectors** before members can connect. See [Connect Claude](/mcp/claude).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="It worked before, now the app says it needs to sign in again">
    The connection has ended. The usual reasons:

    * It was revoked on the Connections page or in the API dashboard.
    * You approved an 11th AI connection, so the least recently used one was disconnected.
    * Your account moved below the Growth plan.
    * The app did not use the connection for 90 days.

    Reconnect from your AI app: in Claude, open **Customize**, then **Connectors**, click Bouncy and choose **Connect**. In Claude Code, run `/mcp` and pick **Authenticate**. In other apps, remove Bouncy and add it again with the same URL. Then approve on the Bouncy page.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The AI says it can't create or change anything">
    The connection probably has the **Viewer** access level, which only includes read tools. Tools for connecting and verifying custom domains need **Full Access**.

    To change the level, revoke the connection on the [Connections page](https://app.bouncy.ai/connections), then connect again and pick a different access level. For API keys, create a key with a different role in the [API dashboard](https://app.bouncy.ai/api/dashboard).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A new deeplink was created but is inactive">
    You were at your plan's limit for active deeplinks, so the new deeplink was created inactive. Pause a deeplink you no longer need, then ask the AI to activate the new one, or upgrade for a higher limit. Ask "What are my plan limits?" to see the numbers.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The custom domain won't verify">
    DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours to spread. Check the records the AI gave you match your DNS provider exactly, wait a little, then ask it to verify again. You can also use one-click DNS setup from the link the AI returns.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The website the AI made is not live">
    That is expected. The AI creates a **draft**. Open the editor link it gives you, review the website and publish it yourself.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The AI says it hit a rate limit">
    Tool calls count toward your plan's [API rate limits](/authentication#rate-limits). Limits are per hour and per day, and the AI app sees when they reset. Wait for the reset, or split very large jobs (for example bulk creating thousands of deeplinks) over time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My API key is rejected in a developer tool">
    * Paste the full key, starting with `bcy_live_pk_`.
    * Send it as `Authorization: Bearer bcy_live_pk_...`, with the word `Bearer` and a space before the key.
    * Check in the [API dashboard](https://app.bouncy.ai/api/dashboard) that the key has not been revoked.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Still stuck">
    Contact us at [help.bouncy.ai](https://help.bouncy.ai). Tell us which AI app you use, the exact message you see and roughly when it happened. Never send us your API key.
